The basis for sustainable assembly systems

With over 60 years’ experience in mechanical connections and systems for greenhouse horticulture, we have the expertise to select materials that offer a long service life and high reliability. Our systems are exposed to a wide range of conditions, such as rain, wind, frost, UV radiation, snow and temperature fluctuations. That is why we set high standards for corrosion resistance, mechanical load-bearing capacity and wear resistance.

The use of metal (aluminium and steel) is a logical and sustainable choice in this context. Among other things, these materials offer:

  • a long service life;
  • high reliability under a wide range of climatic conditions;
  • minimal maintenance during the service life;
  • excellent strength properties;
  • good recyclability.

Addition of recycled materials

A certain amount of recycled material is added as standard to the aluminium and steel we use. For aluminium, this can be up to 80 per cent; for Magnelis steel, it is a minimum of 20 per cent. In future, this percentage for steel will increase once steel producers have introduced the necessary production facilities.

XCarb® Steel Certificate

XCarb logo

Since 2023, Van der Valk Solar Systems has been purchasing XCarb® Steel Certificates from ArcelorMittal. In doing so, we are actively contributing to investments in making the most CO₂-intensive processes in the steel industry more sustainable. The certificates document the realised and verified CO₂ savings throughout the supply chain.

By using XCarb® Steel Certificates, we are taking a concrete step, together with our partners, towards a more sustainable materials supply chain.

Extra protection with Magnelis®

Magnelis coating logo

Many of our steel products feature a Magnelis® coating. This innovative zinc-aluminium-magnesium coating offers superior corrosion protection compared with traditional galvanising methods, whilst requiring less coating material and resulting in a lower environmental impact.

As a result, our assembly systems remain protected against rust for the long term, even under harsh conditions.

Constantly seeking sustainable materials

Developments in the metal industry never stand still. Together with our suppliers and partners, we continue to explore how materials can be made even more sustainable without compromising on quality, safety or performance.

By continuously investing in innovation, we are developing assembly systems that are not only reliable but also contribute to a more sustainable future.
