The latest ValkPVplanner news + tips

Last week we sent a newsletter on the most recent updates of the ValkPVplanner. We are constantly working on improving the tool by adding new features and by enhancing the user experience.

The number of users and projects made in the ValkPVplanner has grown rapidly:

  • Total number of registered users in June 2019 has doubled compared to June 2018; 
  • Twice as many projects are made in the first 6 months of 2019 compared to the last 6 months of 2018.

This means that the use of the ValkPVplanner has grown 100% in only 12 months time. This is a great success, but also a challenge at the same time. We are aware that the strong growth in data traffic has had some negative effects on the speed and stability performance of the tool. We have therefore made it our top priority to solve these issues so that the tool can be applied by all users to their full contentment.

Tips for optimal usage of the tool:

  • The ValkPVplanner is optimised for Google Chrome. Using this browser makes sure that all functionalities of the tool can be used.
  • Close the browser from time to time during the day to delete the automatically saved memory of the browser. When the memory gets full, the ValkPVplanner can respond slower.
  • Make sure that in Google Chrome the function "Offer to translate pages that aren't in a language you read" is always off. This function can be found under: Settings > Advanced > Language.
  • In case the satellite map images of Google are not properly loaded on the background, it often helps to zoom in and out with the mouse or to refresh the browser by pressing "CRTL-F5".
  • When you temporarily turn off "automatic calculations" while modifying a project, the tool will note re-calculate the whole project for every small change. This results in less data traffic and required browser memory.
